Walking along the Sandy River, I came across this scene of a small stream. There was a wonderful quality of light leading back up the stream. One of those time when nothing was shanging very fast, so this turned into a very enjoyable time.
Hello Patrick, I have 8 pt/pd coated pieces of paper drying, so your image caught my attention.
Seeing the image really makes me want to see the print -- the screen really does not give me the feeling of light you must have seen and captured. It is a fine image.
Compositionally, I am not led up the river...but again that may be because of screen quality. On my computer, the motion is more left to right rather than foreground to background. There is some movement with the eye following the rocks towards the back of the image.
The image is split in half, the lower half all water (and rocks) and the upper half the stream-side vegetation (and water). The lower half has a definite left-to-right movement due to the water moving in that direction...distracting my eye from moving back up the river.
Playing with cropping the image up to the large rock in the center, all of a sudden my eye travels up the river and rests in the still water. The eye almost jumps from rock to rock to get up there. And further cropping to 4x10 (the entire top half of the image), with the just a little bit of water showing below the left bank is another nice composition.
But this cropping creates new images -- not what you saw and felt...so take them with a grain of salt. Looks like you did have a good day of photographing!
