Alone.......

I've been trying the fascinating technique of "kill your Darlings" for some time now.

literally ruin my negatives!
scratching - cutting - taping - curling - biting - bleaching - adding egg whites and so on...

my stomach hurt every time, but that IS the point:

to risk your negative in a search for an image even better than the original one...

some times I succed - most times I don't.

You do all that on purpose. My negs all look like this by accident. I like it. It adds to the feeling of distress. Send me a PM if you don't already have the 75 f5.6 for the 600 SE.
 
Could the same effect be achieved with a negative mask without risking the original negative?
 
wfe: I don't think so..
but even if, I didn't want to do it. the destruction of the original negative is an important part of the final image..
It has to hurt to do it..
 
Very impressive and inspirational! I haven't visited the Critique gallery for quite some time and now very glad I did. Nice work!
 
dave: you're right! My "editions" are allways limited...

sometimes by the fact that the negative will deteiorate(sp?) by it self. (if added bleach/fix..)
