Actually its a rather rare locomotive. Though not 100 percent sure, due to the angle. It appears to be an ALCO RS3, made in the mid 50s. They are favorites with railfans.
There are no battery boxes on the walkways and there appears to be a fuel fill on the cab side, so that would make this an RS2, not the more common RS3.
