It's the remnant of an air station, for filling your tires. Nowadays they are all coin operated; in the old days they were free like this one. If you look at the markings on the face, they make sense as pounds per square inch. This is in front of an abandoned gas (petrol) station.
I'm coming to like the Minolta 35s. I bought a couple very cheaply from Roberts to try my hand at making shutter curtains and found that I like shooting with them. And, like you, I love the Rokkors. They needed adjustment and cleaning in the rangefinders too, but when tuned and cleaned they're wonderful cameras.
This is a marvellous composition, I wonder if you have tried it cropping in a bit more from the left and the top.
