Great work Eric. Great abstract feel to it, composition is also well done. I like the fact there are objects in each corner except top right, yet the marking on teh top right, balances everything out.
1. First, it is abstract. All photography is abstract, yet most photographers don't get that. Most are interested in the literal interpretation. I find here on APUG, that abstract photographs get less comments than ones where the subject can be identified. I love abstract images.
2. It looks technically perfect. The high key elements of photographs are difficult to get right. I am amazed at the complimentery comments given to photographs here on APUG that have blown out high tones. Whether a straight photograph or a alternative process made photograph, the end result is all that counts. If a highlight is blown out, for me, it detracts from the enjoyment of the image.
3. Composition is well seen. It reminds me of the I Love Lucy episode where she did the mirror scene with Harpo Marx. Everything is mirrored, yet not quite perfect. Look at it. You have the curve of the pipe on the right & the curve of the crack on the left. You have the two diamond shapes in the silo; you have the triangle shaped rocks; you have the rectangle windows and you have the cracks (lines in the silo). Even the angle of the rake & the support rod for the pipe mirror each other. I also like the irregular blobs in the silo. Look at all the shapes you incorporated!!!!
4. It was shot with a large format camera. A well-done large format image always impresses me. I bet a well printed print of this sings.
Thanks for posting this image. I hope others enjoyed it as much as I did.
