After years of VDB', my first Kalitype and I'm a new convert! No more double coating! colour neg 35mm original to medical dupe film and contact print with kalitype process.
I don't know what kalitype is, but that's pretty! I like that you were able to hold the detail in the brighter places while keeping it in the dark as well. Pretty.
this is really quite nice ... I started doing kallitypes as a means to calibrate my pt/pd work flow. I quickly realized that a well done Kallitype can hold its own when compared to pt/pd especially when toned with pt or pd .... In fact , when fully "toned" with the more noble metal you actually end up with a print that is almost indistinguishable.. After all the more noble metal is at least partially replacing the less noble silver... You get the increased archival status. Also less expensive to do. For me it allows greater ease (financially) to experiment and to make larger prints. That said Kallitypes have more steps and in some ways may be a little more involved. Kallitype rocks. I am happy to see your success !
Thanks jgcull and Roux for your nice comments. Miles, I actually find Kallitype less involved and faster that Vandyke printing. I was doing two coats with Vandyke and Kallitypes only need one. The printing time also seems a little shorter. The double coating was also proving difficult to fully clear. I am definately hooked!
