This is my daughter Afke sitting on a huge canary on premises of the Zollverein, Essen, Germany. The Zollverein is an industrial museum terrain with 2 coal mines and a cokes factory.
The print was partially bleached in a sepia bleach and re-developed in FSA. Not sure if the subtle colours will convey.
This has this lost of realaty touch...surreal almost , I mean what is a girl doing on a this thing ? and what does this thing( a bird?) doing at the factory...surreal touch for sure , I like it...her foot is huge comparing to the rest ......cool
Thanks for your reply! The bird is a huge canary, it is not by accident that it is situated next a (shut down) mine shaft. Mine workers used to take canaries in cages with them when they would go down. If there was any toxic mine gas the bird would drop down first, and the mine workers still had a change to escape. I think I the standard 65mm lens which is kinda wide angle for 6*4.5, I also had the 45 mm with me than, I might have used that one, but I think it was the 65 mm..
