Acadia National Park in living color

So I've been shooting 4x5 for some time now, but I haven't been able to have any of the color images developed until recently, I was struggling to find a good processor that wouldn't be super expensive, and would also be reliable, I finally found one and also got together the money and here are a few of the good images that I've finally gotten back from when I visited Acadia national Park earlier last year.

I was very excited that the exposure came out perfectly, but this was my first real attempt at tilts and shifts, and when enlarged, it's obvious that the left bottom side is totally out of focus.

what movements did you use with this shot? you mention that the bottom left side is totally out of focus...do you know why?
I don't remember exactly what I did with all of the Tilton shifts etc., but I do know that I was specifically attempting to get both the bush in focus, and the tree line far in the distance in focus, while not stopping down more than f/22.This was 6 months ago and I just dont rememer but from what I can tell, I was looking more at the part of the image that is put directly above and behind the Bush, but forgot about the left side of the image entirely and so I must have been shifting the rear a bit too much? Honestly im STILL learning and dont really have any base knowledge of the proper technique yet, I just move stuff till it looks good haha, obviously since at this point I had only had the camera a few weeks, I was really new at it.

The almost washed out sky looks better in larger size than in thumbnail. I love the smoothness of the image. Velvia. Hmm, I guess I need to order that for 4x5 too!

I feel for you, Stone. It seems like about half the time I try to use tilts and swings I end up making things worse, not better. Things seem to work out best for me if I make adjustments so small as to be barely worthwhile. The 'If some is good, more is better' philosophy doesn't seem to hold for large format photography.
Thanks guys, and Dan, you forget about the "large format" part.. More IS better

i'm right with you, stone! that's exactly why i asked...i'm trying to learn as much as possible, too, just having purchased a LF myself about 6~7 months ago. and, like dan, i've come to appreciate a light touch when it comes to tilts, swings, and shifts. looking forward to seeing more of your LF offerings and to sharing more know-how as it appears!
