Abby (Lith Print)

It took a lot of convincing to get my niece to hold still for this picture. It's a little dusty because I'd been using the negative for some alternative processes.

Very nice and tight grain you got with the lith. Do you rely on shorter exposures and develop longer? Just curious. I do the opposite and get much more grain.
Lovely photograph.

Thanks, Thomas. This has been my first foray into lith printing, and I was too lazy to do test prints. My approach has been to grossly overexpose -- about 60 seconds at f/4 in this case. This was my third print, and the developer was quite exhausted, so there was a long developing time. The grain is helped by the negative size (it's a 4x5 negative), but it's certainly grainier than in a regular developer.

Incidentally, this paper (Fomatone MG Classic) is amazing. With a little bit of expired developer it takes on this amazing color.

You're in good company. I was reading a Lee Frost book today in the library and he takes exactly the same approach to printing as you.

This one is particularly vibrant
