I really like the use of shadow.

ive come back to this a handful of times trying to figure out
why i like it so much. i think the hard light and contrast ..
and your connection to the subjects make me keep coming back.

I've often wondered myself why I love this picture. I only knew them for 30-seconds, yet they are a permanent part of my experience. I probably see this photo once every six months while browsing my catalog. I remember the encounter. They were young, open, and enjoying me taking their picture. It's why I enjoy doing street photography differently than practiced by the purists in the HCB tradition. I liked "becoming a brief part" of strangers lives. No matter how brief it was, I came away with something important, that apparently lasts. I've posted several street portraits here, and each person gave me something of themselves that I clearly remember. Thanks for the comments, John.

There is a sense that the photographer (and hence the viewer) is part of the group, not observing. That's the attraction.

I like the way the shadow bridges the otherwise large gap between the people.
