Yeah!

But I personally object to the fact that you have been using Photoshop to make the blur here. IMHO not that analog....

I agree this isn't in the spirit of Analog - maybe you could post a none PS'd version of this one instead

She's gorgeous and I like the tonality, pose and background. I agree that the gaussian blur is not acceptible to the site, but it doesn't prevent me from enjoying this photo.

My first thought when I looked at this picture was, "What is that fake-looking soft focus effect?" and then I read the description. That's the impression that PS Gaussian Blur makes in general. This is an image of a fake-looking soft focus effect with a nude figure in it.

There are other ways of doing it, of course, but why does this image need any soft focus effect at all?

Yet another stressing the A in APUG.

Not the place for digitally manipulated images. Sorry.

Another way to get the effect is "borrow" a stocking from your model and enlarge through it. Can't beat the old analog methods and it works just as long as it isn't a fishnet stocking

Get real folks this is the real world !

Many years ago Edwin Land said photography would become a hybrid medium, and he correctly predicted the crossovers between digital & analog.

So Alpanov's shot on film, so Analog origin, OK he could get a very similar effect using a diffusing material with analog printing.

We, as image makers, should remember that the mass public doesn't care how we make & print images, they really don't care.

I speak with 2 hats as a collector & image maker. I do care but I also embrace the media as a whole crossing seamlessly between analog & digital in both directions on a daily basis.

So my take is if any stage of the image making is analog it's acceptable here.

Well, the problem is that what we do, or at least what I do is not directed to the "mass" public. This might sound elitist, but unfortunately that is the way it is, people who buy my prints, do care how they are made.

Besides, how difficult it is to put a diffuser in front of the lens? which is the purpose of the gaussian blur.

My take it is that it is NOT acceptable to present a heavily PSd image in APUG, just because you shot it on film. As I said, if we are going to allow this, why not digital images like those from Les? they are not any less worthy.

As I said, we have to draw a line somewhere and I think this is it.
