All,
I stopped by the cape may airport last year to visit a friend of mine who works there. I was happy to find a couple of antique cars sitting in the parking lot. I like this shot, although I do wish we could have lived in simpler times where there wouldn't have been such an ugly fence.
Cool! A Nash Metropolitan!!! I used to drive one of those. Monstrously unreliable thanks to a British electrical system under the hood ( positive ground! EEEKS! ), but a hoot and a half to drive around, and 30+ mpg city. I want it baaaaack!!!!
Mets were the neatest cars... only downside was that instead of being a hot chick/cool boy attractant, they were the ultimate geezer-with-a-long-story magnet: "sssson, I remember back in the winter of '57 when...." Now I find myself wishing I still had mine, with gas prices being what they are. Back in the 80s, Japanese pimps drove up the prices of Mets as they were importing them for their working girls to drive around and pick up customers. I don't think they were providing services in the cars, and I also suspect they fell out of favor for this purpose, as the women driving them would have acquired some rather manly-looking arm muscles from hauling on the 17" diameter steering wheel pulling in and out of parallel spaces at the curb (power steering was NOT an option for an economy car in the 50's, especially a british-built one).
