What I like very much about this image is the precise fit to the much-loved 6x6 format: no space is wasted, no elements are clashing and balance is perfect. What I find unsettling is the Bonny & Clyde deadpan-into-the-camera look, with added menace from the girl's more prominent position.
Expressions (or lack of) aside, on composition alone, this shot is memorable.

This is a gorgeous shot! The composition, clarity and contrast are perfect. The expressions (or lack of) on their faces are priceless! No smiley faces for these two. They are much too sophisticated for that! LOL Good job.

I'm in agreement with Poisson Du Jour with regard to the perfect use of framing and format in this image. On the other hand, I really like the straight stares into the camera. Their expressions seem to anchor them more firmly into the moment - no forced false cheer (although I do detect that the young lass might be struggling just the tiniest bit not to smile ). It's like an unguarded guarded moment... and, yes, I'm aware that makes no sense! I just really like the "Come As You Are" vibe they seem to give off. Apologies for the inelegant explanation; suffice it to say that I really enjoy everything about this photo.
