Only 2 months of WWII left as well. What a tragedy. In March the landing was probably still in the dark but by that stage of the war you'd think that RAF nightfighters equipped with radar could have been sent up on patrol.

I do wonder what might have been the case in terms of protection resources had each bomber carried a crew that comprised of at least one son of an Air Marshal
