2nd shot

Testing out a swing. I was trying to get the tree limb to be in focus the full length. As in from one side of the neg to the other by swinging to match the angle of the limb so that was my new focal plan. I think it is close for someone that really doesn't know what they are doing.

Good attempt. How are you metering by the way? The shadows are blocking up a little and the image is quite dark...could be the scan. Back lighting situations are always difficult, even with an incident meter, because of the contrast, but you can still get good results if you take your time. I suggest you use some Polaroids to get instant feedback...its the way I learned and I am VERY glad of it. Worth the expense. Rgds, K

Cool, thanks for the advice. I was using a Minolta Auto meter IIIF light meter, in a few different spots and a bit of an average. The camera was about 2 1/2' off the ground and the middle of the limb about 20' from the ground, so I really couldn't get up to where the shadows were. (spot meter would be nice) I used a very clever "Hand Hood" method (note sarcasm) to meter for shadowed area. The scan should be as good as it gets, Imacon. I took another at a faster shutter speed and it was a quite a bit lighter, I may play with that a little more.
