'Not something I expect to see in mono, but the result is nice. The light looks soft, so you prob. didn't have enough to hand-hold an aperture for more dof in the foreground and left. Hard focus there would have made the textures & tones more pronounced. 'Having shot a few produce stands at the local farmers markets, I know its not as easy as it looks. Its a fun subject. This makes me want to do future efforts in mono.
Nicely done. It's a study in round, until a study in rectangles in the background. I like your selective focus that pulls me into the middle and the invitation to put some in the plastic bag. There are different ways to direct the eye, one way is with light and another is with selective focus. It also has a nice composition with a couple of dynamic diagonals which also creates the action and invitation to your focus area. It is both a subtle still life and a dynamic enticement to "buy me", since your dominant compositional character is the roll of plastic. A really well executed picture.
Hmm. It certainly does pull my attention to the center. Being in the throws of a rekindled romance w/ mono, I'll tend to fixate on those things the less mature eye would notice - overlooking a more broad composition. 'Hard to overstate how helpful these observations are for me.
Gentlemen, thank you deeply for the critiques. It's true, the light was early morning, and I attempted 5 exposures with various settings here. It was my first outing with a newly acquired M5 and I was checking the meter responses to different lighting, as well as the "user-friendliness" of the camera. I always learn so much from reading the insightful and intelligent comments on this site. Thank you again.
