A few minutes after taking the first picture, the sun started to emerge and it became cloudy bright almost clear sunlight. Having been away from HP5+ for years, I thought this would be a great opportunity to compare cloudy conditions with one with a bit of glare.
Craig, thank you for your comments. Interestingly, your comments, especially the 3D effect, were exactly what the owner of the outfit mentioned as what he liked about this sheet. Technically, I find the other version of this to be better, but I consider this to be the one I hoped the owner would request a print from.
I received a request for this negative to be used to make the print for his lounge room wall. Fortunately for me, the f/stop range of the negative is not that great, so I should to be able to emulate what we are seeing here in a print; we'll see.
Both negatives are exceptionally clean, no dust spots removed or in fact anything; what you are seeing are literally straight scans.
The three dimensional depiction was deliberate and why I chose the 250mm lens for the photograph. Having the object far enough away from the background trees, allows for differential focusing to be more conspicuous. Using a longish lens for the format made the compression of distance between them more obvious, thereby giving that kind of 3D illusion effect.
