Nice shot there, Mick. I always puzzled over lighting on some waterfalls. One in particular, First Creek Falls on Errinundra plateau, never cooperated with lighting. All I could hope for was perhaps some direct lighting around the middle of summer. Then one day the penny dropped: most if not all of the coastal waterfalls in Victoria face south, the direction of the coast, so naturally don't get direct sun. Inland it depends on where the fall is in relation to the nearest river. Some people are a but slow! I haven't been to Agnes Falls, but your pic gives me good incentive. Very nice.
Barry, I agree that many of the falls around this area of the world fall to the south, bit of an issue.
This was taken around 1700h on 25/10/2017, pretty much the only time sunlight is falling on these falls. What you see is what is photographable (is that a word) from the viewing point(s). The falls do go a bit lower, but if I had switched to portrait mode all I would get is bush and dark rocks. This is almost the full frame of the negative, just cropped ever so slightly to a rectangle/square type thing after some rotation. The top of the falls, is literally 1-2mm above the crop and it is a concrete barrier; I did most of the cropping in camera by dropping the front about 10mm. and having the tripod almost up against the railing.
