This drainage canal is located by a small backroad 20 minutes from Kurihama station.
I believe the "shi" (市) marker indicates the canal is owned by the city. The entire arrangement was precariously close to a small, Showa-Era home. It fascinates me now whether the owner cared for this area.

I find the simple, ornamental designation really beautiful. I believe it was made of granite or something similar. While this is far from Toshio Shibata's work, I can't help but feel inspired by infrastructural elements and their aesthetic conditions. Thanks for your confirmation.
 
Looks like a neat and tidy storm water ditch. The pipes are interesting, Looks like one has become a planter of a sort. Nice textures
