Percy Dean Talk
17 January 2012, 19:00 - 21:00
The Jewish Museum, 190 Cheetham Hill Road, Manchester, M8 8LW, United Kingdom

We are delighted to welcome Percy Dean for the first Redeye network meeting of 2012. Percy will be speaking about his project, Clouds of Glory.

The Orthodox Jewish community of Prestwich on the outskirts of Manchester is the second largest in the UK. Percy Dean’s time with this community produced a body of work that addresses their balance between place and culture.

Clouds of Glory was exhibited at The Brighton Photo Fringe festival in 2010, The Orange Photography festival, (Changsha, Hunan Province China) 2010, The Peoples History Museum of Manchester in 2011 and at Look 11, Liverpool International Photography Festival also in 2011.

Percy Dean was born on the banks of the river Mersey in North West England. At the age of 17 he studied photographic practice at a small local college; during this time he started making pictures around his love of skateboarding and began contributing to the national/international specialist sports magazines of the time. In 1994 he was appointed staff photojournalist for Snowboard UK Magazine. In 1997 he founded Document Magazine where he held the position of editor/senior photographer for over a decade. In 2010 he received an MA in Photojournalism/Documentary Photography from Bolton University. He now works as an editorial/documentary photographer and lives in Manchester.

This event is free to Redeye members (registration required). To register for a member's ticket please log in to the website first, and the member ticket registration option will appear.
The non-members' ticket price is £3.50.

Doors open at 18:30 for refreshments with the talk starting at 19:00.
