I asked something like this in a former thread about light locks for darkrooms but thought it might deserve a thread of its own.

Did anyone have success with using a program that makes the computer screen red, instead of using rubylith: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/33578/redscreen
It is a program that makes your MacBook screen red. Used by people night navigating on boats and people doing astronomy at night to keep their night vision.

I suppose the proof is in the pudding and the best thing would be to test pre flashed papers and see what happens. But since it will be a couple of weeks until my new darkroom will be at all useable, it would be interesting to know if anyone else tried this.
