Realto Bridge
Taken in 2002 with A-1 and 35-70 mm f/3.5-4.5
(Might have been Ektar 125 or Gold 200)

Edit: Weird man -- I just re-posted this (30 November 2011) and comments from the original posting last January suddenly appeared with it!!!

Thanks @benjiboy! Heh, I saw an alert about a comment and when I came here I thought "gee, that looks like a picture I took." :D

When I bought that lens (used) from a friend, I did some tests and there is definitely some barrel distortion sorts of stuff at the wide end as I recall, but in the average vacation picture environment I found it quite adequate. I call it my 'people filter' -- when standing in front of some famous tourist spot, it gave just enough flexibility zoom-wise to get in a shot over somebody's shoulder or crop out a distraction near the side of the frame without having to change position. Good to have at Trevi Fountain and some of the other famous spots in Rome.

The 35-70, my A-1, and an FD 50mm 1.4 made a very compact kit for traveling light and it worked out well.

[egad -- took that shot 16 years ago!!! ]
I have one of these lenses, Dave, because they are very lightweight and have a polymer barrel they have a reputation for being crap but I find this to be untrue they produce very sharp and contrasty results that put many other 35-70 lenses to shame and this shot proves it.
