Juror Kurt Mottweiler, a photographer and craftsman of pinhole cameras, will give a brief gallery talk on the pinhole genre at the reception.
Photographers in the show, all from the Pacific Northwest, are David Brunn, Rachel Curtis, Don Jepson-Minyard, George Kelly, Darius Kuzmickas, Douglas Prior, Faulkner Short, and your faithful correspondent. Image media range from color to bw, silver to platinum.
From the gallery announcement: "The show brings together eight photographers, each exploring the curious, and simple, technology of the lens-less camera. With their long exposures, imperfect focus, and the almost magical, alchemical nature of their operation, the photographs pinhole cameras produce seem quite close to how we naturally view the world. The film seems to absorb the passage of time and changing light, capturing an often off-kilter, memory-like image. In this juried exhibition you'll discover a wide range of work that is playful, moody, or bright, often surreal, and always invites a closer look."
