Robert! I am still packing up. I will try to leave Arcata by 9am. Map Quest says 7.5 hours if I get over on HWY 5. I'd say look for me at about 7 or 8pm, as I tend to take the long way!

Regular trips to Crescent City in good weather via 5 and Grants Pass, are about 4.5 hours. I don't know the timing from Arcata to CC.

By the way -- if you want to take a neat short break and want to see the best Darlingtonia stand on the coast (and easy to photograph compared to other stands buried in the trees/bushes --

...as you head to Grants Pass from Crescent city...pass the Gasquet Ranger station ("six rivers") on the left. Watch for a marked turn saying something about a Nature trail about 1-2 miles ahead on the left. Turn into the gravel parking lot and take a short 5 minute walk to the Darlingtonia fields....

For those that don't know, Darlingtonia == pitcher plant.... one of the plants that trap and dissolve insects. They're about a foot or more tall. I estimated 1600 (count in an area then how many such areas in the field...) in the field when I was there earlier this summer.

Have a safe trip -- I may break free and drop by on Saturday but have a meeting I have to attend on Sunday.

Will you be making it, Don?

Looks like a good lineup.
I'm going to try to make it for part of Saturday. Sunday's a wash - planning meeting for dxpedition for an amateur radio group.

Cool, you are a Radio dude! I have a neighbor who had a great big antenna in his back yard.
Well, don't be a stranger.

Good morning, Don12x20;

Can you reveal where and when this DXpedition might be taking place?

Enjoy, and 73;
