Resewing my Minolta Autocord case

#1
I have a Minolta Autocord TLR in lovely condition, but its ever ready case is somewhat shabby. Some of the stitching is missing, not a good thing. So far my local shoe repair shops won't work on it perhaps since the stitching holds two pieces of leather at right angles. Does anyone have suggestions for the proper gauge or whatever thread for sewing heavy leather or luggage? The Tandy Leather website doesn't give much information useful to me. Many thanks!

Somewhere here I think I have a saved copy of instructions for restitching an Argus C-3 eveready style case. But apparently it's "really safe!"
Anyway, let's see if I can put these links here (editing in these groups is notoriously messed up).

One bit of info

Between the two sites they recommend nylon, cotton, and linen -- so who knows. I think I would lean toward waxed linen, but as old as I am, probably any of the three materials will "last for life!" The general category is "upholstery" or "carpet" thread. I have a C-3 case that is in serious need of attention, but alas, it's way down the queue.

I've stitched a couple of cases, I bought thread online via ebay and it came with the appropriate needle but I found ideally you need a leather craft stitching set, these are inexpensive. The kit came with thread, needles and other tools (the link is just an example not similar to the one I bought).

When I stitched the case for my Yashicamat 124 the issue was the material wasn't leather and was coming apart, while I managed to repair it so it's usable it's not the neatest job. Stitching leather is much easier.

I've received the leather stitching kit Ian mentioned above. Looks like it will do the job. With the info posted by DW I'll have a good tutor. I plan to "massage" the leather with Lexol then have at it, Many thanks to you folks for hints and advice.
