Copenhagen large format users?

#1
Hi,

I recently moved to Copenhagen (from Sweden/France) and am currently considering making the jump to 4x5 large format (I mostly shoot digital or 35mm with a Nikon FA at the moment), mainly for landscape work. However, before making the jump and invest good money in a field camera, I would have liked to give it a try, or at least see one being used by someone who knows what he/she's doing.

Is there anyone in the copenhagen area who owns a large format and feels like showing me? It would be extremely appreciated!

The Gandolfi Variant is a great camera to start with - and go on with, and end with.

From what you wrote on the LF forum, I think it would be perfect for you.

A Variant Level 2 weighs 3.4 kg - and there aren't many lighter cameras which are anywhere near as stable and versatile.

hei alexandre.
welcome to Denmark.

I'd love to show you some LF cameras (I have a few...), but that requires you to take a trip to the top of Denmark... (the Land of the Gandolfi's)

..

should you want to visit, you're always welcome.

As said: you are very welcome.

(this is also the "home" for Claus' Gandolfi Variant...)

Hey Alexandre

Welcome to Denmark.

I actually got a very nice 4x5 black Gandolfi Variant Level 2 - just fitted with new ground glass.

You can see it here on APUG just listed for sale :

http://www.apug.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=8157&sort=1&cat=2&page=1

New price is 17.000 danish kroner, but you can have it for 5500 + shipping by Post Danmark.

Nothing is wrong with the camera, it isn´t stolen - its just a bargain.

You can call me if you want to know more

Fair enough.

The weight difference between a Technika V and the Variant is not that big.

But it´s cheap and its there

Thanks. I am worried about the weight, though. From what I could find on the internet, it seems to be close to 8.5lbs, which is way too much for the biking/backpacking use I would most likely have...

Hi gandolfi,

I assume you mean the top of Jutland? I am actually always up for some traveling and didn't have any opportunity yet to see the rest of Denmark... Maybe I could pay you a visit on a weekend in early december, if that's ok with you?
