Sinar lens shade/bellows

#1
Hi folks,

I just purchased and received a very, very nice condition Sinar P (4x5). I'd like to get a Sinar lens shade compendium/bellows for it, but I'm having difficulty finding one or info on what it looks like etc. I've found generic lens compendium shades, some of which say they are "Sinar compatible", but I don't know for sure how the Sinar part attaches to the Sinar P, so I can't be sure.

Any info on this would be much appreciated. Also, how gel filter holders or other Sinar filter holders work in conjunction with the bellows/compendium lens shade.

I did find a copy of the out of print Large Format Sinar Handbook, which I ordered, but it will be awhile before it arrives and I don't know if it will have info on this accessory.

Any place where there are Sinar parts lists etc?

TIA,

Gary Benson

Good morning, Gary;

Funny thing that you should ask about a Sinar Parts List. Falkenberg had posted a Sinar Service Manual and a Catalog that he said was very useful for parts numbers. When they made the switch to the "new format" for the Groups section, all of the items in the Sinar Files Section disappeared. I have been trying for just over two months now to get those files restored, but neither of the two paths I have pursued has accomplished anything. This is becoming more difficult to understand.

If you can come up with something, anything, please make it known. I think that I will try one more time. If this does not work this time, I think that I will do something embarrassing.

Enjoy;

Good morning, Q.G.;

Thank you for providing an unspecified link to the Sinar web site in Switzerland.

I have gone through almost all of the information provided there in their download section, but there is almost nothing there for older Sinar cameras. There is quite a bit on their new digital sensor models, but that is not all that unexpected.

The hope for retrieving the information that had been in the Sinar Users Group Files Section is that it might have helped with some of the older Sinar View Camera Models. We are still looking.

Enjoy;

Hi Ralph,

The bellows haven't changed, nor have the bellows holder, the compendium mask, etc.
It is all the old stuff in the 2001 catalogue.

So if Gary wants a compendium for his P, he need not look further. The part numbers are there, and are correct.

The section from the catalogue also shows the different ways how the separate parts can go together to form a compendium.

Ralph I have a copy of the original sinar catalog for early models I purchased from an individual
I'd be happy to add it here but I don't see where I can upload a pdf file.:smile:
