Films that work in Voigtlander Bessa RF from the 1930s

#1
Hi Everyone - here is something I found out the hard way. My vintage RF and Ektar 100 are not compatible! The numbers for the film do not line up with the windows on the back of the camera - the number on the film is closer to the top of the camera, and above the window. I have found Portra 400 worked nicely in it. What have YOU found that works and does not work? I sure hate wasting film! Thanks.

Oh yea. There is a thread in bw film about that. TMax400 is missing the numbers, too. Arista 100 has numbers

Thanks for the link to the other thread. Just based on what I am reading, it appears Kodak won't work overall with older cameras because of the pale colors and moved numbers. I loaded Fuji Pro 400H into the camera, and there are visible numbers and lines in my RF. Fuji appears to be film manufacturer of choice, at least for the RF. Sad, as Ektar is one of my favorite landscape films.

If you like Ektar100 why not shoot Velvia50 or Velvia100? Both are highly saturated just like Ektar100. My preference is Velvia50 but either would match Ektar100 better than 400H
