Darkroom

print washing

#1
I set up my darkroom in the kitchen, where I also wash prints in the sink. Is there rule of thumb as how long I should wash the prints?
We also have a little black and brown dog, his name is Bumble. Part Manchester, he suffers separation anxiety. With black plastic, I seal off the kitchen from the dining area. I do a good job at making the kitchen dark, yet this little guy cannot bear to be separated by even a thin plastic sheet. The enlarger sits on a homemade storage case in the middle of the kitchen and this little guy will bed down right next to it. He is one happy little camper.

Depends what paper you are using, with RC paper then wash for 4 to 5 minutes, for FB paper without using Hypo clear then at least 1 hour, use Hypo Clear then you can reduce the washing time to 10 to 15 minutes, although I still prefer a longer wash with FB papers, even with HC I wash for 30 to 40 minutes Enjoy your darkroom time, with your friend
