wollensak 15 inch telephoto

I've had a wollensak 15 inch telephoto sitting in my lens box for quite some time. I didnt realize how huge these lenses were until i bought one.

So I was debating on whether to sell it when I had a great idea. I made a lensboard and mounted it to my Graflex SLR. On the graflex its right at home. Now all i need is some film holders and ill be all set.

Has anyone used these beasts? What does the yellow-dot mean other than its coated?

the guy i bought mine from years ago had it on a graflex slr.
i use it on a speed graphic and like it ...
there is all sorts of speculation as to what the yellow, purple &C dots mean
some suggest the dots mean they are "newer" (repackaging old as new )
others suggest they mean they are higher quality lenses.

i don't know what the dots means

I've got one and its a peach.

My example will cover 5x7. Like john nanian, I have no idea what the dots really indicate. My suspicion is that Mr. Wollensak's pre-school daughter was occassionally allowed in the factory and liked to decorate her pappa's lenses with cheerful colored dots!

one bad thing about this lens on a graflex slr.. it only focuses down to about 8 feet. So you need a bit of room for portaits.
