Heard a rumour Kodak was working on some colour negative film aside from what they doing with Ektar and their release of the 5x4 format OR maybe that they tweaking it (Ektar) to work better with skin tones?????????????.....dunno.....I would like to hear if anyone knows anything if we are to expect something cool from Kodak in the shape of colour negative film?

My wish list? Portra to be made EVEN BETTER THAN IT IS with technology from its colour negative films for Hollywood!!!!! heh heh heh so a third generation Portra thats like the best colour negative film on the planet!

Are we discussing wishes? :D

I'd like to see Technical Pan come back. I never got a chance to use it, so an ISO 25 B&W film would be great. Even better, make it in 120!

I have an associate who claims that SPUR DSX 64 is better than Tech Pan. I've never shot either of them, so I don't know. I'm guessing it doesn't have the extended red sensitivity though. But it's something to looking into.

Where'd you hear this rumor?

Tech pan, Panatomic-X or some other long gone stocks would be nice, but I doubt that they would come back. I suppose thats why its a "wish."

While we're making wishes, I'd like to see a film like Ektar at ISO 400, available in 120. I love Fuji's Provia 400x but it's E6 and expensive.

Panatomic-X is still made, but only for arial cameras, if I remember correctly, so its not impossible to get ahold of.

Portras (at least 400NC&VC IIRC) are already upgraded to that "latest hollywood technology" used also in Ektar 100 (Advanced Dye Layering Technology). Emulsion code has number -3.

I am not sure they need to improve the Portra line of films as they are so frackin good already.

Regarding their b&w films I'm not sure they can improve them. They are also amazing films.

But, it never hurts to improve things, or seek to. In fact, it's great that they are trying (if the rumor is true).

The best thing that could happen would be if they brought their papers back. How about some Ektalure?

(edit: sorry, didnt' see this was in the color film section)

Ok, I was told you can special order it from Freestyle, but it takes a long time to get it. I was also told that you can probably purchase direct from the company in Germany. You can probably email them for a price list.

There is Rollei ATP, and CHS 25 and another 25 speed afaik.

400X is currently the cheapest fresh film available on ebay, available for under $4/aud a roll delivered in 120.

Discontinuing the majority of their film? You mean Fuji UK's definition of the word "discontinued" (ie: they're no longer importing it from Fuji Japan) you mean?

We are in the "color film" forum, but since you brought it up... Aerial Panatomic-X is not the same as the Panatomic-X sold as a general purpose still camera film. The stuff is not and likely never was sold in 35mm or 120/220 roll film. The spectral sensitivity curve shows that it has some extended red sensitivity. Once in a while you might see someone selling 4 or 5 inch wide long rolls on Ebay. I haven't seen it for a long time though.

Actually, I had some Portra 160NC and then bought a box of 20 rolls and after using the last film i had before starting to use the rolls from the box of 20 I noticed the paper on the roll showing after the film was exposed is a different colour......the former was purple and the latter black I think.....
where do i see this Emaulsion code -3 you speak of?

As a British consumer it virtually means the same thing, it means I can't buy it from Fuji UK , or my local pro dealer where I usually get it from.

British consumers too can have film shipped in from all over the EU without paying duties and taxes.
You can still get Reala, Pro 160 S and C in 35 mm, 800 Z (in 120) from dealers in the E.U.

400NC-3 and 400VC-3 edgeprint instead of 400NC-2 and 400VC-2. See; http://www.kodak.com/global/plugins/acrobat/en/professional/products/films/portra/portra400QAs.pdf

Not sure about the 160, maybe it's been updated too or maybe not.

You can still get them in Britain, but Fuji UK has stocks for only three months, so I have filled my freezer.
