Wow, I am searching the web for Jobo Processors and I stumble across this site...Kismet? I think so.

My husband and I bought our house for ONE reason. The previous owner had built a darkroom in it. Two months later, a friend who went digital *GAVE* us his darkroom equipment.....MMmmm...smell that? It's fixer.

I work for a tech company and constantly explain my reasons for not going digital. This site is awesome......

Anyhow, we're residents of the great City of Baltimore. We like Beer, too.

Howdy!

Welcome! We'll all be glad to see some of the pictures made in the darkroom.

I wonder if it's too late to tell my wife I built the darkroom for the resale value of the house. Probably, since she insists the only way she's leaving here is feet first.

Glad you found us.

You'll fit right in! I don't know of any other place with such a high concentration of "techies" of all descriptions. And we all stick to film and good old-fashioned wet darkroms.

I can understand your reasons for buying the house. Having my own darkroom is so FUN! To be able to go down there whenever I feel like it (and the kids are asleep) is great!

Welcome, LockedUp...

No, you are certainly NOT alone. Witness: the number of "Submitters", "Reception Attendees" and "Continuing Show Visitors" at the Brush Gallery here in Lowell, MA... a show restricted to traditional Film Photography - no digital manipulation, processing, printing - or anything else.

We are here and and apparently our numbers are growing...

"Normal"?? From an examination of the "significant" photographers/ artists of every hue in the past, I hope not. Statistically, "normality" seems to be a nearly insurmountable burden to success in Art.

You'll definitely fit right in.

As well as beer, we sometimes discuss traditional photography. Not as often as beer, admittedly. You have to get your priorities right, after all...

A most hearty, "Welcome" from another ale-drinking, fixer-sniffing, emulsion-shooting techie! :D

(Oh God, I just realised how much like a Pepsi advert that sounded...! The shame, the ignomy...!)

We are looking for a new house, likely in the Spring or early Summer. There are several reasons to move, though we will hate losing our neighbour. But one of the big reasons is I need a darkroom again.

Welcome to the forum; I think it's great you have your priorities straight! :D

We bought our house because the windowed, walk-out, and now semi-finished basement was a perfect art studio for my wife, and also because there was a 7'x8' windowless alcove that, after sheetrocking and hanging a door, has become our darkroom. ( (there was a url link here which no longer exists) ) The builder is an avid photographer (albeit a digital one) and thought it was all very cool.

Welcome to this site. You'll love it here!

Usually it takes around 4 or 5 posts for me to become jealous of someone else's darkroom, nicely done! Welcome to the place, always good to see more enthusiastic people on board.

House for darkroom

Hi, lockedup, why not get it for the darkroom. I once rented a loft in Manhattan because it had a darkroom. It was more than I could afford but hey, you gotta have dark, right? I also bought a house in SC because it had a 4 car garage as a workshop. My wife thought I was crazy. Not too crazy, I'm now single
