For the first time in a while I have been at home when it is comfortable to work in the darkroom. The first test print came out with a 'golden sheen' which I presume is metallic silver over the paper, very effective but not a great deal of use in this instance. I am puzzled as to it's cause.
Ilford MGiV paper developed in Ilford MG at 1+9 (20C) for 90 seconds followed by stop (1 min) and fix ( 2.5 min). Dveloped in a Unicolor drum, hand agitation. In short my usual procedure (unless the heat has fried my brain). The Dev has been opened about 6-8 weeks and been used twice I think, again not an inordinate time , but seems to be rather yellower than I would expect and on inspection has a suspension of some kind widely dispersed in it. Last time I used the drum I had to clean a black residue from it.
Is it possible that thr heat has caused the dev to oxidise quicker than normal or is it the paper or both ? And how come the silver has deposited all over the paper ? (it scratches off before wash/dry)
I've ordered more dev/paper anyway -given me the chance to try Ilford cooltone- but am curious.
Cheers Chris
