Have not forgotten that some of you would like me to write a detailed review on my new toy. I was back in UK (kids were sick) and now back in Kuwait so no time to use it even once! Thats torture! I can tell you tho that:
It is just able to fit in a lowepro phototrekker (because it does not fold, the 17+ cm front to back is the issue) so thats great. Should be easy in a super-trekker which has a bit more depth.
Far prefer the front tilt than the ebony. Very smooth and the lack of the detent means you can employ very small and easily tweaked amounts of tilt. The ebony was good, but this is idiot proof. No detent to fight, yet does not move in its own accord.
VERY rigid.
Considering selling up on fledgling 10x8 I am so impressed. The convenience is so far ahead of the 10x8, it is seriously tempting to base everything LF around this 5x7 and the 5x4 reducer I ordered. A 6x17 back would also ne tempting....this way I have 6x9, 5x4, 5x7, 6x17, economical colour and mono with 72mm to 400 lenses in one outfit. Thats something.
At this stage I would say you would have to be insane to pay for an Ebony SW45 if you shoot mono and have or could get hold of a 5x7 enlarger.
More after I get it out into the field.
