I am shooting a very low contrast scene (3stop range tops) I need ei of 3200. I have TriX in the camera and I going to shoot it. I am hoping you folks can (save my butt and ) give me my times and temps by tomorrow...

As an incentive I'm shooting an image to pay back jim galli and matt cary for favours rendered.

"Super soup":

Dektol 1+9
HC-110 Syrup for Dilution B (treat the diluted Dektol as water for diluting the HC-110)
4 g/L ascorbic acid
2 tsp/L sodium carbonate monohydrate (washing soda).

Develop 15 minutes, agitating like a shaking up a paint spray can every 30 seconds. Gives EI 4000-5000 with TXP, at approximately normal contrast, but with significant fog.

D-19 ?

just seems like my uneducated answer... hoping to find out that a) my instinct is right, or b) why I am wrong. Either way I'll have learned something....

mrcallow, you can probably do the same job by using D-76 stock solution to dilute the Dektol, then add the ascorbic acid and additional soda, but I'd surely want to test it before committing anything important. The borax in D-76 might lower the pH of the super soup and slow the activity, but in general HC-110 Dilution B was made to work like D-76 stock solution. And you might see increased fog, since D-76 has less anti-fogging properties than HC-110; a light dose of BZT might help, but could also reduce activity and leave you with thin negatives.

In my case, I didn't get to really test, because I was trying to save a negative accidentally exposed through the base (and, fortunately, discovered when unloading the holder rather than when the negative came out invisibly thin). I did something even better: got lucky.

However, since you're probably all done by now, how did it come out with whatever you tried?

Well the TXP was a waste. I tried 18min @ 20c with normal agitation using 1:1 Xtol. The film came out about 1 to 2 stops thin. I did the next (only other roll of TXP) at 42 min, 20c, reduced agitation and discovered that I shouldn't drink and shoot.

Oddly, the PMZ (Kodak pro 1000 c41) shot along with the TXP rated at 200 and pulled 2stops in the dev came out as if I was dead sober and knew what I was doing.
