Ultrafine Paper fro the Photo Warehouse

While browsing the site, I spotted the advert for the above paper from the Photo Warehouse. The paper is described as made in England and has two surfaces- glossy and pearl.

Does anyone know who makes this paper? I note it uses the same description as Ilford for its surfaces. Coincidence?

Prices at this suplier are pretty amazing, especially Agfa paper which is now rare in the U.K. and commands a premium when it is available. I suppose the great prices are due to the rate of exchange.

it used to be ilford, but i am not sure who it is now ...
when it was ilford's rebranded paper, i bought boxes and boxes and
boxes of the stuff. it was very good paper, and their $5 flat rate shipping (even for a 40# box ) couldn't be beat!

John Thanks. It certainly suggested Ilford to me based on the surface descriptions. The only other Made in England manufacturer I am aware of is Kentmere.

The way things are going in terms of exchange rates, I wonder if a grey imports market will arise whereby it becomes cheaper for retailers in the U.K. say Nova, or Firstcall or Keyphoto to buy directly from large U.S. buyers of U.K. products and re-import rather than buy directly from the manufacturer in the U.K.

Such a happening has occurred in other industries where the manufacturer has reduced prices in those countries where the exchange rate has made trading difficult( in this case the U.S.), only to find that wholesale buyers in the manufacturer's own country has taken advantage of this.

When Ilford emerged from their reorganization, they announced that they would no longer sell to private label resellers. What I have found, quite by accident, is that private label papers are often Ilford products meant for the European and Asian market. Bought in quantity by entrepreneurs, relabeled and sold in the US. I bought a box of 250 sheets of MG Warmtone Fiber that was supposed to be "X" brand. What it was, was Ilford in plain white envelopes of 25, in a master box labeled by Ilford in Japanese. The retailer goofed and didn't remove the envelopes from the master carton and put his label on them. The customer was never meant to see that master carton. I had never seen it, and I had been buying this paper for years. Thus, my suspicions as to origin, in this case, were confirmed.
