Well, Portfolio I should be on the way back to me in the next week or two, and Portfolio II should be making its last stops in New Zealand before coming back to Bruce Osgood in New York, so it looks like the next round is about ready to start. We've got enough flexibility with the two portfolios now that people can jump in at any time.

For general information on how the Traveling Portfolio works, see the FAQ at--

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

These are the current lists, which I'll update as changes come in--

David, as it has been almost two years between drinks, so to speak, would it be an idea if existing portfolio people asked to stay in the portfolio by dropping a reply to this and/or the original portfolio round three thread?

This I think, would make your job a bit easier in the organising department.

By the way, I'm extremely happy to be part of the next round.

Mick.

Dietmar added and gbenaim (who doesn't actually have a print in the portfolio yet) moved from I to II.

Mick--we used to do that, but given how long it takes the portfolio to make the rounds, everything changes anyway, so it seems to work better to reconfirm with each participant as we go. Without reconfirming, it occasionally happened that the portfolio would go missing for months or it would arrive when someone was on vacation and would be delayed for a few more weeks. Also, it seems that if someone has put a print in and decides to drop out, their print should at least work through the list until it gets back to them, and then they can see the portfolio for the last round their print was in, pull it, and send it on.

Sorry for holding Portfolio I for such a long time. We're finally getting settled in our new apartment, and I've got a print ready to go out. I'll PM Carl Radford, who is next on the list.

I'll also check to see what's up with Portfolio II.

I am also sorry for holding onto the other one. It's been with me way too long and I can never seem to find the time I need for it. I am finishing a roll of film either today or tomorrow and should have my print by Sunday, then ship it out this Monday if all goes well.

I haven't seen it that I know of. Maybe a couple of years ago at Davids but nothing has ever come my way. If it does I'll let you all know.

Last I checked, Sean had it. I'm not sure if he's shipped it, but maybe when he's online, he'll check here, or I'll ask him again.

Thanks! I am in no hurry, but having never participated in one of these before, I do want to be prepared for when it does eventually comes my way.

I've finally got Portfolio I addressed and ready to go out today to Carl Radford. Apologies again for the long delay.

I was about to ship it but the cost was ludicrous and since I am heading to the US in about 6days to visit family I figured I can take it with me and ship it from there (and it will also take less time). Very sorry for the delays

Just an update that with Matthew Gorringe, round III officially concludes for Portfolio II, and round IV will begin with Bruce Osgood, if all goes well, in about 3-4 weeks, figuring travel time from Australia to Brooklyn.

Portfolio II moving on soon

I've enjoyed looking at the portfolio this week and have finished toning my chosen print today. I'm just waiting on some Light Impressions tape to be sent so I can mount it and expect the portfolio will be in the post by the end of next week at the latest.

Does anyone one know about the print in this portfolio from Jorge? It's quite beautiful but I can't work out how it was produced.

Jorge's print is platinum/palladium. He hasn't been contributing to the portfolio for a few rounds, but I've left the print in so people could see it, since there has been space.

Liza seems to be out of contact at the moment, so Ole is up next for Portfolio I, and if Liza turns up, she can get the portfolio after Ole or one of the other European participants.

Update: Liza found, so let's go back to the original order: Carl Radford, then Liza, then Ole.

I just had a look at Portfolio II over at Bruce Osgood's place yesterday, and there's some fine work in there. Some of the images were familiar from the galleries, but there was often a vast ocean of difference between the image on the screen and the print in the portfolio, and it was a good reminder of how important it is always to be looking at real prints.

I've updated the Traveling Portfolio FAQ to reflect the concerns about rising shipping costs, requesting that participants do what they can to keep the weight within reason. In short--send an unmounted print if you can, don't mat if possible, and if you must, then try to use 2-ply and certainly no more than 4-ply board.

The portfolio is here!

I'll be looking over it, selecting a print to make, and passing it on - shortly.
