I need to get a new tripod, mostly because Im finding that I need something that is far more sturdy for pinhole camera use. I need two tripods, a very small "table top", and a regular tripod. A quick look through B&H brings shows this as a likely table top version Berlebach

I'm not really sure about a larger tripod, but about the only thing I don't want is a center column, and I can't afford most of the Gitzo.

I needed a stout tripod for the Mamiya and its 180mm lens set (and a future 4x5 camera yet to be named). Haunted the amvona.com ebay store for weeks. Lost three auctions but won the fourth. A 6 lb carbonfiber with pan head rated for 13 lbs for $56. S&H was $24, and insurance was $1 extra: $81 in toto. You might try something similar.

K.

PS
The products in the auctions go far cheaper than the "retail" cost of the same thing from their store.

I may try making my own tripod for the full size one. I did find a local shop that carries the smaller Berlebach, so I'll probably order that one from them (just to help keep them in business). After looking at the Berlebach web site, they have a model that I would like, but I can't find it for sale in the USA (9033). I'll have to contact the local place on Monday to see if they can get that model, and at what price. But still open for other ideas.

Looks like the 9033 is not available in the USA. I'm leaning more towards trying to build something at this point.

The small Berlebach looks good to me. I am considering it for travel and wet belly photography. My current tripod is the Mannfrotto 055 which I find sufficient stable to hold my Pentax 6X7. I recommend though that you put a lot of money in the tripodhead.
Cheers
