I don't wish to start unfounded rumors as it may be just a misprint on their part but, while browsing B&H website today, I found this a bit interesting and odd:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/178702-REG/Agfa_5C3WD_CT_Precisa_100_135_36_Agfachrome.html

What's odd is that they have a separate listing for AgfaPhoto CT-Precisa 100, with different stock and manufacturer numbers, and it is in stock. I know the AgfaPhoto version is Fuji or something else. However, they list the above link as being out-of-stock until December 29, 2014, and it shows the box of the 'real' Agfa. I wonder if Agfa is going to again market the original emulsion since E6 choices have gotten scarce with Kodak leaving that niche? They obviously still have the capability, as they manufacture films for Rollei.

At a wild guess, I presume any resurrected "real" CT-Precisa would depend on what happened to the trademarks for the various Agfa products when the "old" company went out of business. Presumably they would have been sold or licensed to the various new incarnations of "Agfa" and "Agfaphoto" companies ?

My own gut-feeling is that it's more likely to be a misprint, but who knows.

I'm dipping my toe back into the E6 waters for the first time in the post Kodak E6 Kit era. A couple of weeks ago I bought 2 rolls of the one that was in stock (no space in the name). I've just had one of my F2's Sover'ized, bought an Arist E6 kit and a bottle of formalin. Ready to go..... I have a few rolls of E100G and Fuji 400X too so I'll have to shoot those before I develop so I get full use of the 1 liter kit. I've only used the Kodak E6 kit before, it was really good, I hope the Arista kit does a decent job.

My understanding is that the "old" Agfa never went out of business, and is alive and well in Belgium. I believe they still own the original Agfa rhombus logo, which is why AgfaPhoto/Lupus Imaging cannot use it. Still, it would be strange to have two CT-Precisa 100's on the market, so I know that cannot be. I don't know what to make of it.

Apologies, I was over-simplifying when I said the old Agfa went out of business, perhaps I should have said "when the old company/business was reorganised". I believe you are also correct regarding the original rhombus logo being retained.

OTOH, AgfaPhoto/Lupus presumably does have an (exclusive?) licence from Agfa to use the CT-Precisa (and Vista) trademarks for film products, so I can't see the present Agfa company then being allowed to complete with a product under the same name.

Now for the really dumb question: Is it possible to send it off for developing and get back a box of mounted slides?
Depends where you send it, I'm sure there's at least 1 place left in the world that'll mount them for you...

I'm not aware of any slide films which are still sold with "processing and mounting" included in the price. But most mail order E6 labs offer mounting as slides as an option (at extra cost). With a bit of searching around, you can also still buy empty slides mounts to do-it-yourself, if you prefer.

To my understanding "AgfaPhoto" is not exclusive (Agfa made a legal case on that matter). However, that brand is somewhat "burnt" by the AgfaPhoto use of it. The rhomb though is only owned by Agfa and may not be used by AgfaPhoto. The situation for the trademarks is different.
Anyway, Agfa has definitely decided to leave the consumer market and there is no hint at a change in attitude.

When you see in the consumer market the "Agfa" brand and that rhomb on a film, then it either is

-) old stock (at least about 10 years old)

-) current stock from Agfa's non-consumer range brought to the consumer market by companies as Maco or Wittner, on their own behalf. The Agfa brand only hinting at Agfa as manufacturer of the raw stock.

To me that B&H offer is a simple mixing-up of old and new films.
(As here at Apug regularly the current Precisa films erroneously are called "Agfa" and not "AgfaPhoto".)

I recall a 1950s Agfa camera brochure which said something like "if you want quality, look for the Agfa Diamond logo". This is more true than ever today, ha ha!!

(Just joking. Fuji Provia 100F at a reduced price is a godsend)
