The original Agfa CT100 Precisa

Hello all

I published something the other day on my blog about the old (original) Agfa CT100 Precisa. I started using this film when I got into shooting with a Lomo LC-A around 2000, and have been stockpiling any rolls I find since it was discontinued in 2005.

It would be amazing if someone bought this film back. Lomography's Xpro 200 film is fine (I've had good results from it) but the two best films to cross-process - Precisa and Kodak Elite Chrome - are gone. It'll be interesting to see if the new Ektachrome cross-processes as well as the old Kodak slide films...

I know purists sniff at the "Lomo" look with cross-processed slide, but there are a tonne of younger photographers who are intrigued by film for precisely these effects.

Is it true Adox has bought the rights to lots of old Agfa films? If so, that might mean a return could be on the cards...

The original Precisa, made up to around 2005, was certainly a great film (processed normally as E6); I still have a few left which have been frozen since purchase,but a roll which I used last autumn is starting to show slight colour casts....still usable, but not for anything important.

The "new" version "Made in Japan" is also one of my favourite films, neutral colouring, not unlike the last version of Ektachrome. It's evidently a Fuji product, maybe even Provia or a slightly older version of one of their films ?

Yes, Provia 10F apparently. I agree, it's lovely to use as an E6 film but nightmarish as an xpro film. That toxic green! Urk!

I have 100-odd rolls of Precisa (original) left, and that stuff's kept for xpro - I might shoot a couple of them as slide just to see how it looks as intended...

The new CT100 is indeed Provia, cheap way to get it!

You can prove that the new precisa id provia, there is a number code on the cassettes just under the velvet light trap, they are the same. The same applies to the Agfa C41 film, and the Fuji C41 film, the C200 version, (not Superia).
