Hey, that's really three of a perfect pair - today I shoot my first roll of film with recently acquired Sputnik, LOMO version. OMG. I can't say anything more, though I'm quite used to local quality. But it does the job with some minor exceptions - it really shines from inside, got to be flocked soon. And the lenses are apparently not sharp at f/8 even for contact prints. Also I can't understand how people print their pairs without this magic crappy frame - fortunately I got one  But the pair negatives are different in density, like I need to add 1 more second of exposure during printing - did anyone from happy Sputnik users encounter this? I think the problem lies in an uneven aperture setting, will check this tomorrow. There's an ingenious small screw on an aperture coupling lever, made especially for this sort of defects

Cheers,
Zhenya

As I recall, Zhenya, the Sputnik is built with components common to Lubitel cameras, including separate shutters for the two lenses. Most likely what you're seeing is a very slight difference in shutter speed between the two -- which, from my limited knowledge of the Lubitel shutter, is more likely than not. However, if you can adjust the relative apertures, you can correct there much more easily than by adjusting the shutters. The amount you describe is probably less than 1/3 stop, unless your printing exposures are very short.

Yes, Donald, the Spuntik is a two-lens Lubitel, so it can be a slight difference between shutters - but the apertures are not quite the same, I tried to change it, so we'll see what reslut would it give  It's indeed around 1/3 stop, not more, but if it can be adjusted it should be exact
