Testing JandC 200 in Rollo Pyro

I'm going to try and test this film and wondered if my methods sounded okay.

I have 15 exposed sheets of 6.5cm x9cm and three of them are of the same subject with the same settings. These three will be my control of sorts. I plan on running 3 batches with each batch having one of the control. Each batch will develop for a different time.

I was told to start with 7 minutes so I plan on doing one for 6.5 min, one for 7 min and one for 7.5 min. I figure with the three controls I can compare them and see what I like.

Remember, all this is very new to me so please tell me if there's a better way to do this. I don't have a darkroom and I'll be doing all this in a Jobo 3006. None of the exposures contain images that can't be reshot and I think of them as "playing around" images.

How do you intend to print these negs? Gelatin silver through and enlarger? Alt process? Also, what concentration of A:B:water are you planning to use? I agree with Jay regarding spacing out your processing times more.

15cc from small bottle
30cc from large bottle
1000cc water

5 sheets of film at a time.

Since my darkroom is a long way off I'll be printing cyanotypes and VDB. I know this film is small but using the camera is just so much fun I also have a 5x7 that seems much more appropriate for contact printing.

I'll start with 7min and try the other times as suggested. Thanks guys!

I souped the negs last night and started with 7min. Turned out ok I think. Some problems included mixing up the film and putting all three of the "control" negs in the first batch then only having enought hypo to only do one more batch.

I just popped over an looked at your posts, very nice.

The tones are very attractive and they look plenty sharp. You have a very distinguished model; he fits the lighting and look perfectly.

Just for the sake of argument, I would enlist his aid again and redo the shots. I would use the same lighting but this time do your three development time tests, instead of just the one.

I agree with 5, 7, 9 as a better spread to determine change. And remember to MARK THE NEGATIVES so you know which is which, nip a corner or have a card with a number at the very edge when you take the picture. It's very frustrating to have a half a dozen negatives and no idea what was what, or so I hear, never having actually made that mistake myself!!! At least not that anyone can prove!
