I can't remember if the original SX-70 has a tripod socket but the Sonar version does. I had both of these and I don't remember if I ever use the original one on a tripod. I did use the Sonar version on a tripod and in fact I dropped and broke it when trying to mount it on a tripod in total darkness. I was brand new, I just got home from the store where I bought it. Lukily the store gave me a new one.

There is a tripod accessory bracket, Polaroid part #111, which clips on to the sides of the body and is wedge shaped so that the camera is level when the tripod head is. B&H has a used one in stock for $10.

1/4 20 screw and a lot of super glue, this is what I did with my holga before they started making them with mounts.

Thanks for the posts, I didnt realise there was an official holder. Not sure whether to do a diy job or buy the holder. But B&H shipping comes to a massive $35 for their holder, thanks for the tip but wouldnt pay that.

Thanks again,

Fintan

For SX70 and other polaroid film plus accesories such as an ND filter to let you use 600 film in your SX70 also try www.unsaleable.com

I have no affiliation with this company

Years after the original post I know (!), but for anyone else looking for a tripod head that fits the SX-70, the tiny Manfrotto 484RC2 mini ballhead with q/r plate works well.

Cheers,
Gavin
