I had one made for my 12x20 and it was fantastic. Very well made and sturdy. Not cheap, but well worth the money IMO.

Thanks for the positive note, Kerik. Did you contact their design department or did you order through one of the Canadian dealers? Is your case large enough to take the camera + lenses, or do you pack them separately? I am getting an 11x14 and need a sturdy case to be used for air and regular travel. It looks like the Strebor case can easily be strapped to an external frame backpack also. Best, Markus

Markus,

I bought it direct from Strebor. I talked with someone on the phone to discuss what my options were and what size I wanted it to be. I had mine made to carry the camera and 2 holders. There was also room for a few lenses (in lens wraps), meter, darkcloth, etc. I also purchased their filmholder pouches for all my ULF holders.

Markus,

I hesitated as to whether to answer this or not, but in the end I thought all experiences should be known to those that are going to invest a significant amount of money in their choices of products. I just received late last week a custom order from Strebor on a case that was made for my 20 x 24 camera. The case is extemely well made and is of a high quality that you would expect from one of the leaders in the industry of making cases for large format cameras. Simply put its an outstanding case. As stated by Kerik they are not cheap but the quality is in line with the price. I am happy with the case. Without getting into the gory details I would say however that I became very frustrated at the broken promises of finished product, delivery times not lived up to by months, a tracking number that did not exist etc. In short, a 5 week agreement that started in August ended with my case coming at the very end of December. In between were months of unanswered emails and phone calls. It is my understanding that Robert was involved in a move that might have contributed to some of this but nonetheless it was frustrating. It is my heartfelt belief that Robert is a stand up guy who wants to do the right thing by his customers but in my case there were many issues that left me disappointed. Case in hand at this point though I am happy that my camera is protected by an extremely well made product.

I just bought a Tenba air case for the infamous Deardorff V11 that I haven't used yet. B&H had some demo's to sell. I bought the RS-D23 case which should protect my investment nicely. It was on a UPS truck the next day.

I did ask Phil Kember about his Strebor cases and he said he would not reccommend them for the same reason Monty stated above.

Just to add a different view on service from Strebor. I received my case in a very short time and never had any problems getting phone calls or emails answered.

Oh well,

After not getting any replies to my email, I finally called Strebor Enterprises and learned that they no longer make camera (or any other) cases. They have not updated (i.e., removed the corresponding info from) their website, though.

Anyway, thanks to all who replied - I keep poking around to find an alternative.

Best,

Markus

Try Lightware... I've been using the same bags nearing 20 years, they have 1000's of air and other miles on them and they're still in great shape.

Thanks, Bill. One of their view camera cases would be suitable, but wooooooohooooo, $542.95 ??? I'm still looking for some incredible deal (that is steal...) ... Best, Markus

Lightware is very good stuff, but last I checked, they didn't have one quite right for my 11x14" camera, and I was really hoping to get a custom Strebor case one day, alas.

I have a rolling light stand case from Lightware, and it is very intelligently designed and well made.
