I got a Nikon 9000 ED scanner, and am contemplating using my old version of Silverfast with it, especially since the scanner was a large wallop to the wallet.
Does the version 6 work ok with this scanner? I will have to learn how to do a plug in all over again, since i have been away from digital for a couple of years.

Thanks

Each version of Silverfast works only with a specific scanner. So the silverfast 6 for your old scanner won't work with your Nikon 9000.

I have no experience with the LS 9000 but many people recommend Vuescan scanning software, wihch is fairly inexpensive.

Silverfast 6

I got a "discount" from Lasersoft for the software upgrade on the Epson I already have and another "discount" for the software for the Nikon.

Seems a bit rich, but the Nikon software is pitiful.

Same as me. I had one that worked flawlessly (plustek) then I decided to "cross upgrade" for another (epson). Which was fine, as I wanted a consistent interface. Things went south from there.

1) they did not support 'ice' on my 4490????? That blew me away.
2) It had startup problems and would not recognize my scanner most of the time...

and the big one......

3) No telephone support. If you have a problem, you are screwed. Their email support might get you a reply in a few days with "please reinstall the product" kind of replies. If you have a scan to go out, find some other way. This is not good.

The big issue here, is my first one worked like a champ and still does. The epson version has some major issues and it was %40 more (price changes with brand of scanner). Any product can break, but when a vendor chooses to do nothing (my issue is still unresolved after 9-10 months) you are SOL.

These days, it's Vuescan. Say what you will, it's supported. Lasersoft could learn something from them.
