I wonder if short ends for ECN-2 film are still being sold.

I think this may have been discussed in the past, but with all of the changes that are always taking place some updated information would be great.

I can't believe it! Reel Good film is still in business, they're on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. Years ago they were the premier place to get short ends in the Hollywood area. Give them a call and see what they have!

alanrockwood - sorry to state - but the time of cheap short ends will be over these days.
We may also state : The end is comming to short ends now.
    The reasons are different :
    - main reason is : most filmworking is done digital today.
So we may notice the same change in structures as we have seen between 1996 - 2000 with proffessional (still ) film work.
The same change as we remember from
2002 - 2005 in amateuric photography (more and more digital)
In proffessional film works (cinema) we saw the beginning of the trend to digital solutions in 2008/2009.
It was the same episode (Do you remember?) as in 2005 !!!
Suddenly All manufacturers of (photo cameras) like Nikon, Canon, Pentax a.s.o.
    stoped production of analogue equipment.
Nikon F6 was the last new analogue mass production camera.
So 2008 was the year Arri noticed (for example) the demand to new analogue cinema equipment " is going to zero".
Arri began with much costs to restructure production in direction to digital.
Meanwhile (after 2010 - 2012 it began more and more digital) film production with film is a resisting niche of 10% - 15% regarding the time before digital in cinema.
So a conclusion should be : bad time for Kodak with their proffessional cine film department ? INDEED - sad to state.
If you regard this no wonder about the use of cinefilm as still film?
Yes - just have a look to Cinestill - were are the films from ? Nice price from overproduced cinefilms.
[But Cinestill don't give this nice price to us....:D:laugh::D:cry::surprised::sick:]

    - the second reason of having much less short ends is from calculation.
If a production company decided to film today (the director wanted film like Quentin Tarantino) the task of the D.O.P.
is to use the stuff wich much more respect than in the past.
FILM IS VERY EXPENSIVE - DON'T WASTE IT !!!!! is the slogan of production managing directors these days.
Because you should be glad to be allowed to work with film.

Well - allarockwood thats in short the reason of having much less short ends.
And don't forget : The demand of cinefilm to use as still film becomes higher and higher.
The conclusion is from same reason mentioned above - (don't waste [cine] film ) - that we can noticed a more ammound of factory sealed films today.
It is from the filmmakers going back because the are forced to safe the stuff.
You may have more chance to get factory sealed films today than short ends.
But beware off - we wouln't see this chance again - in 2 years it will be also the end with factory sealed films.
:cry::cry::cry::cry:...- realy sorry to state and VERY sad about.

    with regards
