Just home Sun eve. from Shooting the West XVIII. Shooting the West is an annual event in Rural Nevada. I put up a little rambling blog on my web page here if anyone is interested.

STW does an excellent job of keeping the western flavor and theme alive. It's very relaxed and very rural, and some of the speakers are truly great.

There's a little salon also. Interesting to me was that at least 95% and perhaps more of the prints shown this year were printed digitally. I entered an 11X14 contact print of one of my favorite portraits done with the big century 8 and a 22" Voigtlander Petzval. It didn't compete well with pictures of "anywhere USA" folded and mirrored 6! times digitally. WooHoo. OK, sour grapes.

More on the blog. Plan to attend next year!! There's truly something for everyone.

Jim,

While I was in Elko for the Cowboy Poetry Gathering last month, I heard of 'STW'.

Unfortunately I couldn't make it this year, but it is something I'm planning on for next.

I'll check out the blog, thanks for posting it (and attending too).

Jim,
Thanks for sharing and the update! The images are wonderful! But I still wonder what that white stuff is clinging on things?

Beautiful photos as usual Jim. Especially love the old Cab Over. I think perhaps, Mercedes stole that design when it was drawing up the plans for the Unimog. What do you think? Thanks for sharing.

Actually, Brad, I think Chrysler blatantly robbed the styling of this vehicle and used it on the PT Cruiser. They thought no one would notice............but I'm on to 'em like stink on poo.
