Rollfilm back for crown graphic

Back for more help! I have a crown graphic with a non rotating back but I shoot mainly uprights as it were, I have asked a related question before but the advice I got(file some slots) is more than I would like to do to the camera and I am not confident enough to do so. I am thinking about putting a rollfilm holder on it, the RB 67 back is a fit I believe, does this include the rotating part? if not can I fit a 6x6 back? I am trying to mitigate the fact it has tilt on one axis only before having to move it on, which I don't really want to do if I can help it cos it is nice.

Hmm. 4x5 ain't ULF.

For good help and info on Graphics, go to www.graflex.org and work your way through the site map.

The only way to shoot verticals from tripod with a Crown Graphic is to unhook the strap and attach the camera to the tripod using its side tripod socket which is (surprise!) under the strap.

Rollfilm holder? Crown Graphic? RB67? No fit, end of discussion. The usual rollholders for 4x5 Graphics are Graflex' own (requires the camera to have a Graflok back, read all about that at www.graflex.org) and the Calumet/Cambo C-2, which slips in like a sheet film holder.

Movements? The Crown has what it has. Not a lot. If you need more, get a camera that has more.

What size is your crown? If it is a 2 1/4 X 3 1/4 then an RB67 back will fit. I use such a back on my Century graphic and it is a far better made back than the singer-graflex 6X7 lever wind back. Your camera must also have a graflock back in order to use these backs. 6X6 backs are available by singer-graflex in lever wind and knob wind. Lever wind backs are better since they have the small rollers that tend to keep the film flatter than those backs without them. Not sure if RB67 backs come in 6X6.

There are a few roll film backs made for the spring back, but they are scarcer than hen's teeth, expensive as hell, and more finicky than the above-mentioned backs.

If your crown is a 4X5, you can get roll film backs to fit, once again, only for a graflock back.

As for the rotating part, you're SOL.

The C2 rollfilm holder will work on a non-graflok back. I use one on my Meridian 45B. It just slides under the gg.
