Could anyone give me a heads up on this Rolleiflex? Seller didn't give a lot of info or pics on this one, maybe I should have let it go.

It's a MX Rolleiflex (K4A) on the photo, and description is not correct.
Bayonet-mount is both on taking and viewing lenses.
Shutter is a Synchro Compur (without T).
There is usually a sportsfinder.
MX Rollei was made between 1951 and 1954.

But I don't know if the seller has given the right infos or the right pic...

I don't think he did either. I checked all the Rollei sites before I made the offer.

I agree with the above, the bayonet mount is Rollei Bayonet 1, and would be 1951/54. certainly not 1937, and is one of the Rolleiflex Automat range, I have one and it has a Tessar lens and is a very usable camera Richard

My concern is what is going on with the lenses they look yellow and if you look close at the taking lens, something is in the middle of it. the lenses also look bigger than the ones I've seen and there is not that much of a lip around them. If you look close at the lenses there doesn't appear to be bayonet mounts on the lens ring either. I guess that I will just have to wait and get it in my hot little hands before I can find out for shure. Do you think I made a good choice?

It's the lens cap!

Ask the seller for more pictures, with the lens cap off and the viewing hood erected.

It's to late now for more pics and info, the camera is enroute as we post. I hope I didn't make mistake, should have just let it go when he didn't respond to my queries. I think I was caught up in CAD.

Ok, I finally received ONE of the Rollei"s that I purchased and now I need to locate the serial number on the camera. Does anyone have any idea where I can find the serial number?

On top of the brand name plate.

I have a 'cord and there is nothing at the top of the name plate except "D.R.P." and "D.R.G.M.". I would think that the serial number would be on the main body to in case of parts swapping that would remove it.

I don't know about Rolleicords, but on Rolleiflexes (the TLR sort) the number is only on top of the name plate.

I'm waiting with baited breath for my 'flex to get here so that I can ID it and start playing with it. Q.G. I appreciate your help. I have never used a Rollei' and I can not wait for the 'Flex to get here but for now I am getting to know the 'Cord. I have some parts coming for it but I still need to ID what series 'Cord it is. Any help would be appreciated. The 'Cord has a Carl Zeiss Jena Triotar 1:4.5 f=7.5cm taking lens and the focus lens is a Heidoscop-Anastigmat f=7.5. It has settings for T,B 1-300 and f-stop from 4.5-32 with a Compur shutter. The waist level finder has a sports finder and there is a red lens on the bottom for frame count. The film advance has a button in the center that must be depressed before the film will advance.

It's a prewar Rolleicord, that's pretty sure (DRP instead of DBP, Zeiss Jena Triotar instead of Schneider lens).

Not that i'm an expert.

Rolleicord Ia, second type, made between May 1937 and January 1938.

You only use the red window to wind the film to the first frame. After that you use the mechanical counter.

Yes, but the Zeiss serial numbers can help identifying the camera model.

serial number on taking lens:

serial numbers 1,760,000 to 1,947,000 would make it a Cord 1a model 1 made March 1936 - May 1937
serial numbers 1,944,911 to 2,183,000 would make it a Cord 1a model 2 made May 1937 - Jan 1938

both were fitted with same lenses and shutter.

Open the back of the camera and you'll find the factory serial number.

Before anyone replies about the serial numbers, yes they do overlap making it anyones guess what the ones between 1,944,911 and 1,947,000 actually were.

Rolleicord model 1, model 2 and model 3 have the same lenses and shutter, and the same advancing film system.

Model 2 and 3 have the same waist level finder, with sport finder by pushing viewfinder flap inwards; model 1 requires a second mirror (for "sport finder" or rather focusing at eye-level), as seen on Rolleicord II manual.

It may be model 2 or 3...

I'm quite sure it's the second model. Sportsfinder and no serial number on the nameplate.

The third model has a cast nameplate with the serial number, plus the sportsfinder. The first and second model has the etched nameplate. The first model has the F&H logo on the viewing hood and no sportsfinder.
