Hi Folks;

One of my daughter's Nikkor G lenses has fallen apart... literally. The front focusing assembly has come completely off the body of the lens. This is not the first time this has happened. It was a relatively inexpensive fix last time, but the lens is pretty cheap and it is nearing the point of diminishing returns as far as further repairs go. (ok... really cheap... it's a 3.5 28-80 kit lens for an N-80... but so am I, :D and if I can avoid replacing it for the time being my life would be so much happier.)

I think I can properly reposition the focusing helix, but I can't seem to set the zoom cam assembly. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Does it require some level of force to set the cam in place. It's a pretty cheap, plasticky thing, but there don't appear to be any broken parts, it's just not together.

Anyway, I'm open to any suggestions on how to reassemble this lens.

Cheers,
